New and upcoming UK hotels for 2020

From boutique renovations to international developments, there are lots of new hotels in the pipeline. Here’s a small selection of hotels to check out…



London

The Stratford

The Stratford opened in May 2019 on the bottom six floors of a 42-storey skyscraper, Manhattan Loft Gardens. It features 145 bedrooms, a sky garden, 24-hour gym, mezzanine bar, all-day brasserie and lounge, and a restaurant bar and terrace on the seventh floor led by former Chiltern Firehouse head chef Patrick Powell. It also includes four event spaces, perfect for meetings, parties and private dinners.


Its conveniently located one minute’s walk from Stratford International, and just 10 minutes from Madison Square Garden’s sphere which is currently in the planning phase but is set to be the UK’s largest concert arena.


The Londoner

Edwardian Hotels’ The Londoner is a five-star, “world’s first super boutique hotel,” and is due to open in Spring 2020 in Leicester Square. It will have 350 rooms across 14 storeys – six of which are below ground, including feature bars and restaurants.


The hotel has invested heavily in its meetings and events spaces too, which includes a ballroom for over 850 guests, two luxury Odeon cinemas, a secluded “Green Room” for up to 150 guests and “The Gallery” – a collection of seven meeting rooms decorated with original art.


Pan Pacific London

Pan Pacific is opening their first European hotel in London’s financial district towards the end of 2020. The hotel will have 237 rooms and a floor dedicated to wellbeing, incorporating an infinity pool, spa and fitness centre. Catering for larger conferences and events, it boasts 897sqm of meeting and event spaces spanning over two floors, including a ballroom for up to 400 guests.


Its Signature Suite on the 18th floor will be the “epitome of luxury” with spectacular views of The Gherkin. The hotel is conveniently located at One Bishopgate Plaza opposite London Liverpool Street station.


Nobu Hotel London Portman Square

Opening Summer 2020, Nobu’s Portman Square hotel is located in the central Marylebone area. It will feature 249 guest rooms and suites, a ballroom and a world-class restaurant. Its state of the art meeting and event spaces can accommodate up to 700 guests, and has flexible set ups for small business meetings, large conferences, networking events and more.


Nobu was founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, and thrives in the world’s capitals as “the ultimate destination lifestyle experience”.


The Peninsula London

Looking further into the future, The Peninsula London is set to open in 2021 in the heart of Belgravia, overlooking Hyde Park Corner and the Wellington Arch. The hotel will showcase “the best of British culture, art, and cuisine” as well as top-class hospitality.


It will feature 189 stylish guest rooms and suites, a selection of exclusive luxury residences, a spa and restaurants – and it’ll even have its own shopping arcade (so it might be wise leaving the credit card at home)! There will also be a grand ballroom, set to “play host to London’s most glamourous events.”


Rest of the UK

Hotel Indigo Bath

Opening in June 2020, the Hotel Indigo Bath is set in a Grade one listed, honey coloured Georgian Terrace. It’s located on the peaceful South Parade, steps from the centre of Bath. It has 166 rooms, three suites, an on-site health and fitness centre in the hotel’s underground vaults, and a bar and restaurant, both serving a selection of local produce. It will also feature a ground-floor, 16-capacity space with natural daylight, perfect for meetings or a private dinner.


Mercure Cardiff North Hotel

Mercure opened their recently refurbished in December 2019 after it was rebranded earlier in the year. Mercure Cardiff North Hotel features 132 rooms, a 24-hour fitness centre, a restaurant with a lounge/bar area, and a garden to take in the views. It’s located 15 minutes from Cardiff centre, making it quiet but convenient. There’s also 10 meeting and conference rooms available which can accommodate any event.


Hotel Brooklyn Manchester

Situated in Manchester’s famous Portland Street, Bespoke Hotels’ New-York themed Hotel Brooklyn opened in February 2020. It features 189 innovative bedrooms – 18 of which are fully accessible, a bar and restaurant, and a banqueting space for up to 220 guests – complete with own bar – on the 9th floor.


Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina

Scotland’s first Hyatt Regent Spa and Conference Hotel is due to open in 2021 at Edinburgh Marina, just 4km from the city centre and 12km from the airport. It’s set to feature 160 rooms, including executive suites and a 93sqm presidential suite, and 78 fully serviced apartments.


There will also be a spa and fitness centre, treatment rooms, 3,048sqm banqueting and conference facility, restaurants and bars, a concierge, and covered car park with electric charging facilities.


Tribe Hotel Glasgow

Tribe, a new brand launched by Accor Hotel Group, originated in Perth, Australia. The Glasgow hotel will be the first Tribe hotel in Europe, and is set to open later this year. The hotel, based on Clyde Street, is 17 storeys with 290 bedrooms. It will be a “vibrant lifestyle hotel with a bar, restaurant and co-working space,” and is also set to feature flexible, creative spaces for meetings and relaxing.
